Vistage recognizes Martha P. Brown with the 2024 Legacy Award

CHARLOTTE – October 10, 2024 – Martha P. Brown, former chief executive officer of Tipperary Sales, Inc., and author of the forthcoming book It’s On You: Empowerment for Leaders Seeking the Highest Level of Personal Satisfaction and Corporate Success, has been named a recipient of the 2024 Legacy Award by Vistage, the world’s largest CEO coaching and peer advisory organization for small and midsize businesses.

The Legacy Award honors members who have completed their business exit within the past two years. Whether selling their business, transitioning to the next generation of owners, executing an ESOP, or successfully navigating a merger or acquisition, Legacy leaders have reached a summit – leaving behind a solid foundation for future leaders to build upon.

Brown was the first woman to lead Tipperary Sales (La-Z-Boy Southeast), a multigenerational, family-owned retail furniture company. She secured the status of Tipperary Sales as one of the most successful retail furniture companies in the US, having grown the organization to a team of 170 employees with revenue in excess of $70 million.

Additionally, she served on the executive committee for the board of trustees of Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina, and on the board of directors for Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte, North Carolina. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English and communications from Columbia College and holds her MBA from the McColl School of Business at Queens University of Charlotte.
